After several years of dedicating himself to groceries, Don Salvador Martínez Aceves decides to start, together with his brother, Don Alfonso, a small chocolate factory in a winery located at number 5 Morelos street.
At the bottom of this winery a roaster, a cocoa mill and a few stone metates were installed to build a small chocolate factory, with two brands: Popular and Real.

This is how the FLOR DE URUAPAN was born.

By 1940, in Juan de Ayala Street No. 7, a commercial building was built; first concrete building in the city, where COMPAÑÍA ABARROTERA DE URUAPAN, S.A. is installed. made up of the table chocolate factory, an ice factory and a soft drink factory.

The grocery store was closed and in 1960 the construction of the new farm that would be occupied by CHOCOLATERA URUAPAN S.A.. DE C.V. whose operations began in 1961 in the building located at Km No. 1 of the highway
Uruapan-Taretan.
By 1962, already installed the machinery imported from Italy,
the production was a tangible success.

At the end of the 70s, the name was changed to REPRESENTACIONES MOCTEZUMA, later changing to the name of CHOCOLATERA MOCTEZUMA, S.A. DE C.V. name that covers, with the highest quality in its field, to line brands, industrial products and private label maquila for the main commercial chains.

The range of products is consolidated: Chocolate Uruapan, Chocolate Moctezuma Homemade Chocolate, Chococozuma Plus;
the first powdered chocolate.
Chocolate Para Mi is launched on the children's market.

Participation in the US market is consolidated.
Moctezuma Sugarfree is developed. Moctezumín arises.

The corporate image is modernized and
the trademark of the products.
The chocolate bars with toppings are developed.
(Almonds and macadamia nut).

It develops "The Moctezuma family", dedicated characters for children.

 On January 6, the city of Uruapan Michoacán, through the H. Ayuntamiento, manages to break the Guinness record for The World's Largest Hot Chocolate Cup, with the support of Chocolatera Moctezuma.
